I'm not saying to intentionally break it or anything but if it happens and they send you a replacement it would probably be the newer, smaller version. It was covered under warranty and the replacement they sent was the kind in the second picture. I lost my key around a year ago, I had the larger one. Just became more of a pain so I just dealt with the dongle sticking out. So I tried find a small hub to leave in my backpack and run a wire when I was out in the field. I also had that feeling of breaking the dongle. We switched one of our network license to a hardware license and was charged to do the switch.

Has any of you guys had a similar experience? Let me show you my current dongle and the smaller dongle I wish to upgrade to. I was also advised the only way to replace the dongle would be to buy all the modules from scratch to the new dongle. However my dealer advised me that the software is tied to that dongle and cannot be decoupled to be transferred to a different dongle. I looked to replace the USB dongle with smaller one so that I don't need to take it in and out every time. I became a little worried that I might either lose or snap my dongle taking it in and out of the bag. I use a USB dongle for TBC and recently I have been travelling to remote sites often which I use laptop on site. You would also either to have a current protection plan for your TBC license. There would be some cost involved with this however it would be as much as repurchasing all the modules. There is no real option to switch from one dongle type to another, however you could upgrade from a USB license to a Network (software) license. Run the setup.exe as administratorįor further information, please contact your support team. Please bear in mind that the smaller dongles can still break and are probably easier to lose.
